BIO

    Mary Walker is a painter and printmaker who started her working career in NYC as a high school math teacher. While there, she studied with Isaac Soyer at the Art Students League, during which time she decided to devote her life to painting.

   Walker was born in New York, raised in Tryon, NC. Since 1981, she has lived and worked on Johns Island near Charleston SC. She has exhibited regionally, nationally, and internationally and has been the curator for several art shows. Walker has taken dance regularly for years. In recent years, Walker has worked with dancers in order to incorporate dance into art exhibitions.

   Walker has worked independently in National and International print studios including the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop in NYC, Scuola Internazionale di Grafica in Venice Italy, Santa Reparta in Florence Italy, the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, PAAM print studio in Provincetown MA, Limerick Printmakers in Limerick Ireland, and Studio Due on Johns Island SC. She is the winner of numerous regional grants and residencies.

    Walker is represented by the Julie Heller Gallery in Provincetown, MA, and the Corrigan Gallery in Charleston, SC.
